Title : My kind of Rain

"drop by drop they hit your face,
bit by bit you feel in place"

Something that's worth sitting up in bed for, something that's worth standing in the balcony for. The raindrops running down the window panes, making them so misty that nothing outside matters. We, wrapped in our blankets and sharing a cup of steaming hot chocolate while the rain continues to pour. Watching the orchestra of raindrops as each drop hums its own note, finding its place in the tune, beating its rhythm on the window pane in invitation. Free to do silly things; we lean out of the window, gaze upon the midnight stars and be comforted by the heavy sound of rain.

This is, my kind of rain, with you.

Title : Uncertainty

Having a break is a double-edged sword. I read books, I sleep more, I run around, I eat more, but I also have a great deal of time to think and I am starting to feel increasingly uncomfortable about where these thoughts are taking me. I hope that as soon as I am back, my busy life will take over again and I will leave these thoughts behind.

I feel wrong-footed, unsure of what I should do next. Maybe it's hard to go back. Maybe the greasy pole is just too greasy. I certainly feel that I have slipped a long way down it. Do I really have the energy to claw my way back up?

I am beginning to feel that I might finally have arrived at the right bus stop just after the last bus has left. I can see its tail lights, but even if I run, I can never catch it.

Dear you, I'm here. I'm always here and will always be here. I'm sorry for hiding in my own little shell recently. It's the attacks, you do know what I am referring to, don't you? This afternoon, I felt it again after such a long time (but it wasn't that bad). And I didn't pick up your calls 'cos I was sleeping! Hee. You know you can always drop me a sms, a offline msn message if I don't respond as fast as I should. So sorry once again. Told you my sleeping time is totally screwed. Remember, I'll always be there for you. :)

Title : Exclusivity

My judgemental stuff, how bad was it?
It wasn't good.
I didn't throw you away, did I?
No.
She said I did.
Only you and I can really know
what happened between you and I.
It's nobody else's business.

Title : Mary's Butterfly

Me: Eh why butterfly?

B: 'Cos so free and fly around.

My 2000-piece puzzle. But at least it's better than this (year 2005) yeah? Give me another week.

Dress Up Dress Down

Eh, it's a kind of skill to dress up in order to look dressed down yeah? Hahaha..I'm always like that, I don't want to look over the top (too flashy or overdressed), and so the longer I take to get prepared, the more dressed down I will be. And for a dinner somewhere not in town, 3 hours of preparation is sufficient for me to look like this:

Yeah, I'm wearing my shorts. For once, it's not a skirt. =P

It's the whole ritual of preparing yourself for the special outfit on that extra-special occasion. For a romantic night out, I have to ceremoniously prime my body. First, the perfumed body lotion or oil which I lathe with my fingers, or spray in a fine mist onto my skin. But with all the progress we have made, we have become very utilitarian and pragmatic. We have lost the old-world’s love of aesthetics, which involved a bit of inconvenience and suffering, and taking precious time both to prepare oneself, and to enjoy the fruit of that preparation. But me, being still Romeo's victim, spent my 3 hours like that.

Food! Sushi First!

Finally exhausted my loyalty card @ Ichiban Boshi/Sushi last Tuesday. This is the Causeway Point outlet. I went to the Bukit Panjang outlet on Friday too! We ended up having a little too much of meat.

The entrance

Getting ready! See that plate of ginger! Hee..

For starters, we had assorted sashimi, which came in a very big plate.

We ordered this executive set (% with uob card) which consists of:

A garlic teriyaki chicken dish. Think there were 5-6 pieces! Too much..

Semi-grilled salmon in sweet sauce (the middle portion was still raw). Quite nice!

And chawamushi!! (my all-time favourite!) I had the Unagi chawamushi @ Bukit Panjang and it tasted equally good as well. Haha.

Next up, Ajisen!

Had this on Monday @ Chua Chu Kang and on Sunday @ IMM. Haha. Seems like I have been avoiding town yeah? Been hanging around my vicinity. Good in a way for a person like me who is too lazy to travel long distances. Haha.

Hmm, I like the soup and the noodles, but really cannot eat it too often 'cos of the MSG. It's really a lot man. Really.

And it's Curry Favour!

Finally had lunch at Curry Favour @ Stamford House with Peiyu and Joanna. My first time there despite hearing so much about it. Overall I think the food's not bad. The katsu's nice. :)

Pork Katsu Curry!

Stew Pork Curry!

******

Driving to the Airport at 4am isn't that fun after all. Probably 'cos of the lack of sleep. I still prefer the manual stick, for now.

I started counting how many more to reach 23. Twenty-two. Can we ever reach that? And will I ever have the PINK dream again? Haha..

I am going for a haircut tomorrow morning!

Title : Earrings Galore!

It all started with my new purchase of a couple of earrings some days ago. I was trying out how they looked on my ears. And so, since I was having so much free time, I decided to take pictures of some that I really like a lot! Hee..

My current favourite is the one right at the bottom right. See that White Flower (2nd row 1st from the right)? I lost one of them so..I can't wear it out anymore. It's really very pretty and unique. Sigh. And see that pink one (1st row 2nd from the left)? My mum made that. And if you happen to notice some that are similar in design but in just different colours, yes indeed they are. 'Cos I can't make up my mind which is nicer, so a girl will always do what a girl will (gil, doesn't this line sound so familiar? Wahaha!) and just buy them all! :P

Been eating well and enjoying life. Sushi, ramen, baked rice, smoothie (i like!), curry and what else! Too lazy to update them all. If I have to start, it will be way back from that KL trip I had with Jia Min in February! And the longer you don't blog about them, the lazier you become yeah? Let's see how things go. And things have been going very well for me since...hmm...March?! Lady luck perhaps? Or maybe 'cos of the way I view life for now? Sounds cliche but it's really working for me. I hope everyone around me will get a little of my luck too so that they can do well for exams, interviews and everything! And for now, I shall try to sleep earlier (yes, I am keeping to my 3am bedtime) and prepare for more wonderful days to come with..haha..with everyone that matters! Wahaha..

p.s. was uploading some of my pictures to Flickr and I realize the major bulk belongs to the FOOD category! Oh my...........We must have eaten so much and too much! Haha..I love food too much to resist it!

Title : To you, for you, from you.

When the heart stops beating, everything becomes nothing. Just like that.

I'm sorry. Perhaps I didn't try hard enough to be the friend you needed. But I tried, really. I couldn't and can't understand my reluctance to do so. Guilt was no longer my nightmare. Pity wasn't too.

What was left was anything but everything.

I'm different. Perhaps I live in a fairy-tale world. Perhaps I am the Princess in that secret garden with the charmed life. Things always go well for me. I won't understand what it's like being ordinary.

Yes, it's a rich, fulfilling life out there. And it gets tedious and monotonous. But you know you can always slip into that secret garden and have tea with me, and imagine, at least for a while, that life can be dreamy and romantic, just like we said it would be.

But, of course I do. I am ordinary, just like everybody else. I'm not some airy-fairy princess living in my perfect world. Maybe I'm a misfit, but so are you.

Do we pick people like we do furniture? Do we look for real unique, one-off pieces that might cost more, whether in terms of the legwork needed to hunt it down, or how much we actually pay? Or do we just settle for something convenient, and possibly, popular?

An antique dresser - just when you think you've learnt to appreciate every nook and cranny, you chance upon another hidden drawer, to find a beautiful brooch left behind by its last owner. Sometimes, you see a scratch that you've never seen before, though it might have been staring you in the face since day one.

A relationship has many turns and bends, and it never ceases to surprise with beautiful, painful, and touching revelations. It's unique and one-of-a-kind, and it takes a whole life's work to preserve and enjoy it. And for something of this value, it's damn well worth it.

Title : Just so judgemental

"Oh, so what are you going to do? You are going to cut me out of your life like what you have done to him? The first sign of any little weakness or flaw and you just write people off. My God! You are so judgemental.

Oh what, you can say I am pathetic and needy and I can't say anything to you? You know, everyone's not as tough as you. Some of us make mistakes.

Perfect, that's just perfect. Walk away."

No one's perfect. Maybe that's something I have failed to understand.

Title : Where's my Nokia!

Well, my phone is officially one year old this coming Sunday. But I have been wanting to change it. My N70 has been malfunctioning and I need another one that has a bigger memory space (No, I don't want to buy another memory card) so that I can store more songs/photos/data in it.

We happened to be at West Mall yesterday and there was this M1 promotion going on. I saw the phone that caught my eye - Motorola Razr Red. Never a fan of Razr, this phone simply had to have some magic in it to be able to dazzle me right on the spot - probably 'cos of its colour. Haha. Hmm, contributions from the sale of the red phone will go directly to the Global Fund, to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Not bad eh? At least Motorola managed to make me want to get the phone so that I would be doing it for a good cause by contributing to the needy.

How about this - LG Chocolate Phone?

Dap says it's so ME. But I don't think it is that user-friendly enough eh? I would rather stick to Nokia 'cos it's probably the most user-friendly phone in the world and it has a no-fuss sms style. But all the Nokia phones now are either too long (read N73) or too thick (read N80), or too expensive (read N95). And not to mention BIG. Haha..what has happened to the dainty ones that were so attractive a few years back!

Or how about a Mickey one? Wahaha..quite cute..

Maybe I should just wait? Maybe I should just stick to my current one. Or get the RED.

Ah ha! N76! Maybe I should just wait!

Title : It should just be.

I have been having bad dreams. Dreaming of stuff that I don't want to care about anymore. I think it's time to stop running away. 'Cos it just comes back to haunt you.

There it was,
exactly what I had needed to hear,
a year too late.
I should had been happy but I wasn't.
It was the absolute worst timing of all.
Suddenly my life was all about timing.
All the right things said at all the wrong times.
My past coming back way too fast,
and my future taking way too long to come home.

Today, I finally know how pain feels.

No, it's not supposed to be like this.
Or should it be?
I woke up this afternoon feeling happier.
But now it just feels the same again.

46 more to go.
Will it ever become 1?
Let's try reaching 23 for a start, shall we?

Just done with the preparations for my morning paper later. Don't think I'll be wearing red later. My red jacket should be enough for luck. Haha.

Title : Let's celebrate Free Cone Day!

Free Cone Day was first celebrated back in 1979 in the first Ben & Jerry's scoop shop - a dilapidated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, USA. Ben and Jerry had been scooping ice cream for a year and decided to reward staff and customers in the best way they knew how - by serving up a tasty tub of thanks free to everyone. An instant success, Free Cone Day has now been scooping up free cones for over twenty-five years and has raised tub loads of money for charity too.

My mummy was so excited when she chanced upon this photo, she just had to ask my dad to scan it immediately. Haha. That's me and my elder sister. Yes I am the one in red shorts, the one that looks like a boy, but hey, I am cute eh? Haha..yup, I looked so like a boy when I was young but like all the stories that were mentioned in the old wives' tales, 女大十八变, I am so pretty now! Wahahhaha..well, am just kidding about the pretty part. :P

The "oh-so-popular" PAP classes. Look at my pretty lacy stockings and pretty white shoes with black polka-dots. And look at that pose. Haha. I think I was already a vainpot when I was young.

Spontaneous Daphne

Last week, I was on the phone with Daphne and we were complaining about our usual topic. There was no intention of meeting up 'cos we had so many other stuff to do, but what surprised me was our spontaneousness at that moment of time. Just like the good 'ole times, isn't it? Hee..

So off we went for a movie at Cine. We caught Nada Sou Sou. A good storyline but a not-so-good development of characters and plot. So it wasn't that touching at all, not a tear-jerker show if that was what you were looking for. But we were amused by a conversation that a guy had with his friend over the phone after the movie.

Guy: Hey you must go and watch Nada Sou Sou! It's damn nice. Really damn nice!

I turned and looked at Daphne and both of us just rolled our eyes and gave each other the look. (and of course not without making an useless attempt to stifle our laughter in the lift!)

And since I had some time to spare before Daphne came (she was travelling all the way from NTU! while I was coming from SMU haha), I was walking around Taka when I decided to eat my Obanyaki. This time round, I bought the blueberry and cheese one and it was delicious! Hee..Oh yah, I was going down the escalator @ Cine when I couldn't help but noticed Mrs. Fields! Lots of memories..

After the show, we were deciding on what and where to have for our very late dinner. Bugis was the suggested destination. And so we walked from Cine to Bugis. We walked, mind you. Haha. And Dap had to come and tell me it wasn't that far after all! Haha..

We completed our dinner with dessert from Liang Seah Street. Dap wanted to order her mix of Black Sesame Paste + Peanut Paste but they were sold out, so she decided to try this:

Daphne's Hawaiian Papaya steamed with Milk

My Mango Chunks with Sago

And though I seldom take mango, I decided to try this 'cos it was one of their specialities. We were looking at the menu on the board to find out what's sold out. My pulut hitam was also sold out! So we made a mental note of what's popular so that we'll know what to order the next time!

And erm, I was high after the dessert. Felt a little fuzzy. Haha..and the both of us felt pain at the back of our heads. Dap concluded that it was 'cos we had hot food followed by cold food. Well, I guess that's the reason.

I reached home to see an Obanyaki waiting for me. Haha. My mummy bought one for me on the same day as she was shopping in town as well. Haha. So sweet..

And even though every outing with you seems to consist of a lot of WALKING, EATING and GOING HOME LATE and not to mention walking through a DANGEROUS and ULU path home, it is always fun.

Spontaneous Gina

Some time last week too, I met up with Gina. We didn't plan to meet initially too. We ended up at Vivocity (my favourite place!) and where else but Sushi Tei again. And as adventurous as I am when it comes to food, I ended up ordering the same dish each time there. Sometimes it just feels good to have something predictable and comforting, isn't it? And just like the previous time, we talked and talked and talked and drank and drank and drank.

And you know what? I haven't step into Vivo's cineplex before and to me, that's a place where I will only go with a special someone. So if I ask you to catch a movie with me @ vivo, you better say yes 'cos it will take a lot of guts for me to ask! Haha..

******

It always feels good to bump into familiar faces in school now that we are year 4s and there aren't many of us left. Saw Chris. Saw Kaixin.

And I have been sick. The full package again. Sore throat being the first, flu next, and now it's the cough that's left. Going to be well soon!
