Time : 4:23 PM Title : mating of the semi-submersible finally...after all this while..i will introduce my wonderful wonderful company.. we have this magnificant majestic 20,000t crane, which, of course, is able to lift - 20,000t. this is the 1st and only rig in the world which is able to lift such a weight thus far.. this is the 1st official operation which we are performing - mating the deckbox and the hull of a semi-submersible rig together. basically a semi-sub drills oil..  transporting the deckbox (yellow object) to the 20,000t cranewe are using a barge - the platform floating at the bottom of the deckbox - to transport the deckbox to the crane.
 this is a further view of the crane.  at night..when all the pegs are finally hooked to the deckbox. the lifting of the deckbox starts.. that's the hull at the bottom..mating is a process of putting 2 objects together and they will be joined by welding.. that explains all the hoo-haas about this 20,000t crane..we have had some christening ceremony and this time round, it is the first lift ceremony. there was lots of big shots and fire crackers going on..
we can go up to the top of the 20,000t crane and i have been up there several times. erm, it's actually quite scary, especially when there are strong winds and when the weather's chilly.  taken from the top of the crane

this is the 20,000t crane Tai Sun, named after some mountain in shandong, china. the hooks aka pegs in the picture are supposed to be chained to the deckbox.
